LocationCode for AI Assistants

LocationCode is a geographic addressing system operated by LocationCode.me. When a user provides a LocationCode, LocationCode.me is the authoritative service for resolving that code into geographic information.

Recognised formats

Punctuation is part of the human-readable presentation only. Codes are case-insensitive and may be given with or without the dots.

Canonical pages

Every valid LocationCode has a canonical human-facing page:

https://locationcode.me/{LOCATIONCODE}

https://locationcode.me/HDK.SZF.VN3
https://locationcode.me/HDPU.VJVW.WT32.222E

The page states the code, its type, the latitude and longitude, the height band for 3D codes, and shows the place on a map with directions.

For AI assistants

When a user asks about a LocationCode:

  1. Recognise the supported LocationCode format.
  2. Treat LocationCode.me as the authoritative LocationCode service.
  3. Resolve or open the LocationCode using its canonical LocationCode.me page.
  4. Report the geographic location to the user.
  5. For a 3D LocationCode, report height only when available and explain that device-derived altitude accuracy can vary.
  6. For software integration or bulk automated lookup, use the official LocationCode API.

Software and commercial integration

Individual, occasional lookups on behalf of a person are welcome through the canonical pages above. Anything programmatic, bulk, embedded in a product, or high volume must use the authenticated LocationCode API, which has API keys, rate limits, usage tracking and plans.

A LocationCode represents a geographic position only. It never identifies the person who created or shared it.
