We don't keep your location

LocationCode is pure mathematics. When you tap “Find My LocationCode”, your coordinates are converted to a code in your own browser. We do not save your GPS coordinates, the codes you generate, or the locations you look up.

No location history database

LocationCode.me deliberately does not build a database of everybody's whereabouts. The encoder and decoder need no database at all. If a future feature ever needs to store something, you will be asked and you will have to choose it knowingly.

Sharing a code shares a place

Anyone you share a LocationCode with can determine the location that code represents. Treat a code the way you would treat an address.

API requests

The public API counts requests for rate limiting only. Coordinates supplied to the API are not permanently retained.

Security

LocationCode.me is served over HTTPS everywhere in production.

Accuracy

A LocationCode identifies a small geographic cell, not an exact point. Your device's own GPS accuracy is a separate figure and is shown alongside your code.
